The Four Pillars of the Bridge of Peace ? Responsibility: We break the chains of victimization by realizing that our resentments and anger are emotions that poison and debilitate ourselves. That is, more essential than our external circumstances are the internal circumstances of our mind. Our habits of thought have more effect on our lives than the instigator of abuse. As we take the reins of responsibility we are liberated from being a victim, even if our environment seeks to control our lives. Respect: By recognizing the rights of the other, no matter who they are, we are able to open our minds up to the possibility of a solution. Without respect, the only answer is death of one kind or another and the perpetuation of the cycle of conflict.
